DPRK Missile Test timeline, 2022-Present

Starting in early 2022, North Korea began embarking on a new round of high frequency missile testing, much to the alarm of the international community. This started with the first test since October on January 5th, leading to more than x total tests. <todo: add context of what Kim has said he wants to test in recent speech/talks>

January 5

Launched: Eastward at 8:10 AM from Jagang. 120 km lateral movement, 700 km target.

Ballistic Missile, Kim was not in attendance.[1]

Initially referenced as "unidentified short-range projectile that is presumed to be a ballistic missile." sent towards the East Sea.[2] DPRK reporting a day later identified the launch as testing a "hypersonic" missile.[3]

January 11

Launched: 7:27 AM, flew more than 700 km, alt 60km, top speed Mach 10.[4] Target was apparently 1,000 km from launch site.

Appears to be a second test of the same missile as previously, with Kim-Jong Un and Kim Yo-jong in attendance.[5]

According to KCNA: "The test-fire was aimed at the final verification of overall technical specifications of the developed hypersonic weapon system."

January 14

Two projectiles: 2:41 PM and 2:52 PM. Mach 6, 430 km alt 36 km.[6] Targeting Al Island.

Two "tactical guided missiles". Train based. Unknown if Kim was in attendance.[7]
