In this guide, you will learn how to create models of underground tunnel structures based on satellite imagery, Digital Elevation Maps, and imagery/video/information about the site.

Getting a DEM

The easiest place to get Digital Elevation Map (DEM) data is from the NASA ASTER dataset, distributed through the NASA EarthData portal. You'll need an account on the website to download the data, which can also be used to download various other datasets.

NASA ASTER Dataset listed in EarthData

Once you have the ASTER dataset selected in the NASA Earthdata portal, select a region using the tools on the right side of the page.

After your region is selected, you should be able to preview the DEMs you are about to download.
